Keep or sell 2007 R350/newbie owner
Obviously there's no clear-cut answer to this but trying to get a sense of what we're in for...
We inherited a 2007 R350 nine months ago. Now has 112K miles. Previous owner maintained but no significant repairs. Then we got it: In last 9 months we've spent about $6K at non-dealer. New intake manifold, new air suspension, new module to get the rear turn signals to work again, new tires, new batteries and 2 oil changes/maintenance. On the one hand, not bad to get the car into decent shape. Its bluebook value is maybe $7K. We're just wondering if we should cut bait and get a new car or wait until a major repair, but what would a "major" repair be on an R350 if $1200 seems to be our average repair so far. I realize we're paying the price of accepting a car just hitting major repairs (100K+ miles etc.). Thanks for any tips.

If you like the car, I think you should keep it now that you've done all the repairs. That intake will fail again, but next time, drop a message on the board here, because there's actually a better and more permanent fix. The air suspension will fail again also, but there are some alternatives there also. That engine will last an easy half a million miles or more, so you're good there as long as you take care of if. The issue you're going to encounter is rust - I don't know where you're from, but I would recommend diligent rust-proofing - if you live in Nevada, disregard.
