Angry 2010 r350 CD/DVD Changer

I just bought -- like three days ago -- 2010 r350 and the family loves it...except for one thing: When we tried to load a cd in to the dashboard CD changer, it wouldn't recognize the disc. The disc wasn't anything abnormal (e.g. burned CD, etc...it was just a regular old music CD) and the changer won't read it. We hit the Load/Eject button, waited for the screen to show the six slots, selected slot 1, waited to be prompted to load -- all of which the manual said was the correct process for loading -- slid the disc into the slot, and that's when the trouble started. A) the load function was sorta squirrelly: the disc went most of the way in, then came out slightly, then in, then out, then finally all the way in; B) we heard the disc whirring like it was loading...this went on for about 20 seconds or so; C) the Command screen went back to the six slot screen...and didn't show that a CD was ever loaded. It just reverted back to the beginning. If that wasn't enough, when we tried to remove the disc, we hit the Eject button, and the Command screen said there was no disc in the changer. Any ideas what is going on or any relatively easy/cheap fixes? By the way, I should say I'm not an overly competent dude when it comes to cars, so I'm looking for any idiot-proof fixes. If I have to take it in to the dealer, so be it...was just hoping someone had a few ideas. Thanks!

My guess is the player is broken. Call this guy and maybe he can fix it for you.

He fixed my Comand back in the days and it was $250. You do need to take the comand out and put it back in. Not too difficult to do but it does involve some work.

You can also go to the dealer and they will probably charge you an hour to diagnose the problem. If it is really your comand, the replacement is going to be $$$.
