2010 R Class 350 CDI
Apple 30 pin adapter and iPhone 6 compatibility

I have a 2010 R class 350 CDI, it is the facelift model, just bought it last weekend. It was missing the iPod / iPhone 30 pin cable. I just obtained one today - it came in a 3 pack labelled A1668270104 (along with a USB adaptor and a 3.5mm phono adaptor). The cable works fine with an old iPod nano, however it doesn't work with a genuine Apple 30-pin to lightning adapter with my iPhone 6 - I get a "device not recognised" (or something similar) message. I've used my iPhone 6 with this adapter without any difficulty in other cars with the old apple 30 pin connector (a 2011 Audi Q7 for example).

Does anyone have any experience using Apple products that have lightning connectors with this adapter in the R class? Someone in the E class forum suggested the adapter works with the 2009 E class so long as you use the A0018278504 cable.

Any advice appreciated!

I have an old iPod hoked up in the glove box all of the time. It works great. I don't know how convenient it would be to hook up my main phone all of the time. I think it might be better to buy an older iPod on Ebay or a Bluetooth adapter discussed here on other threads. The iPod would be great at playing music you have and the Bluetooth would let you stream internet music.
