Could a leaky fuel filter cause shudder at certain rpms?

just noticed that either my fuel filter is leaking, or some of the lines connected to the fuel filter are leaking. Could his possibly be the cause of my shudder? Still new to Diesel engines, and MB, I guess I'm just hoping for an easy fix and not a tear down the trans and maybe fix the problem kinda fix.

Does it shudder around 1700 rpm when accelerating up, but not when above that rpm? If so, then likely transmission related and a torque converter issue.
Shop might recommend TC solenoid replacement in transmission module first but most often TC has to be replaced to solve the problem.

So, unfortunately, its actually the tc.. any suggestions on where to get a good replacement for it? Im a competent mechanic and can do the swap myself, also dont really want to pay the thousands to have the stealership do it..

Search around but make sure you get OEM MB replacement part and not an aftermarket. For some reason they are not quite the same or as good and other problems arise. As tempting as the price difference is, not worth the consequences. You will save a lot on labour cost already, if you're plan to replace it yourself. You can get a cheap used one but you take a chance on condition of it. If you go that route, get one from a small car (ie.C series) with low mileage, to reduce the possibility of it being worn out too., as long as it's the same part number.

This is the part number im finding, 2212502202, can anyone confirm this number? The stealership isnt helping me at all, they just keep telling me to bring it in so they can diagnose the problem at the rate of $100/hr...... not gonna happen, especially since the last time i had my car there they jacked everything up, broke bolts and didnt replace them, as well as not putting my engine cover back on and when i confronted them about it they just simply said it wasnt there to begin with, so i dont exactly trust these morons anyway.
