07 R320 transmission problem - engine mounts?
First couple of days of ownership and no problems, today going over a slow speed bump, as I accelerated away, normal speed nothing heavy with the right foot, the car was sluggish as if the brakes were on and then a sound like I was driving over a corrugated surface for a few seconds. Car felt like it was stuck in top gear, no acceleration and no kickdown either. Steering wheel button worked to get it into 2nd, but when I reset that to auto, still felt like stuck in top.
I was very close to home, and when I went to reverse, no gear, put it into drive, no gear. Put it into park and then reverse, it worked. Reversed it into my drive, then tried drive again ,once again felt like it was stuck in top.
Switched it off restarted, everything back to normal, went for a test drive - all fine. Could it be engine mounts?

Had the exact same problem when I bought my 2007 R350 5 years ago. Actually started acting up on me on the drive home from buying it second hand...grrr. Turned out it needed the transmission valve body control plate replaced. I took it to the dealer and it cost around $1000. I believe this is a dealer only service item.

How did you find out it was the valve body? Did the trans throw a code? Im just trying to figure out which peice is causing my shudder. Im being told by oher members its the torque converter, which im inclined to believe, but want to make sure before i go ordering parts.

My trans never had a shudder. I'm not sure it actually threw a code. I had an idea what the problem was just by searching this forum, and when I took it to MB they confirmed it. Car drove just fine except when it would randomly get stuck in a high gear. It would barely move itself from a stop when it happened and would completely reset itself by turning off the ignition and restarting it. Had the problem 5 years ago and it has been fine ever since the repair.
