R350 broken moon/sun roof...
My R350 sun/moon roof just stopped working. It will not retract nor open. What is the normal repair cost at the MB dealership vs non-dealership? Thank you.

I can still hear a "grunting" sound when the switch is pressed. I can only assume that the motor is making that noise but some mechanism is faulty. Please clarify. If it is still an issue with the fuse then where is it located?

If you hear a clicking sound when you try to open/close the roof, it could be an indication that the gears are worn/broken. The actual gears are made of plastic and broke in my car. Dealer fixed (under warranty so don't know the cost) - but required removal of roof lining to access the motor/gears. Before mine broke there was a distinct clicking/grinding noise when I opened/closed the roof because the gears were stripped.

Last time I tried to open mine it started grinding/skipping teeth so I made sure it was closed and don't use it or open it at all anymore. Still enjoy the large pano roof and the cloth cover opens and closes so it's not a priority. Already spent $$ on a new windshield from MB (a priority). Original 2006. In the past I had to order a whole new front dome light unit with all the switchgear / garage door opener/xenon cabin bulbs as the PANO control switch broke/failed. Replaced it myself. When it worked it was even worse when the felt seams were wet from a car wash or rain...the motor sounded like it was about to give up.
