taking advice on a 1995 s600 coupe wirring and headlights

i have a new baby... and i quite like it. but it has been abused so i have a lot to do. first thing... i wanted to change the headlights . the factory part is super expensive and i really do not like the design, anyone has any suggestion where i can buy a nice one. i prefer xenon.
as usual i think i have to change all the wirring harness.. but really do not know where to start. engine wiring? maf wiring? dash?
should i change all of these? can i build the harness? i really do not like to go to dealer and spend over 2k for it... so i am thinking i do all these DIY stuff...
btw i can not explain why i like it. i know i am gonna spend more money on it than it is worth but... oh well.
