1999 CL500 Trunk Issues
Hello
I think someone broke into my trunk (attempted to)
The lock is not working properly and I found the trunk, pried open slightly, locked still but the trunk puller gizmo that pulls the trunk shut, is broken
I found some scratch marks leading into the trunk
I took it to ICBC in Vancouver BC Canada and the guy claims (estimator) that they just act up on their own and pop up on it's own and that he is a body expert, but he kept pointing at parts not knowing what they are on my trunk and denied my claim, saying the only way to pry is to leave damage everywhere
I spoke to a tow truck company and they said they have pried into doors, and generally do not cause large dents and scratches, so it is totally possible to pry into things without leaving huge damage everywhere
So I am posting today to find out if these trunk lock pullers act up or not or if it is common
I emailed Benz directly and am awaiting an answer
Their service shop, at present, is unaffordable to me as they want $300 to look at it and then whatever the repair is
Thanks for any help

If you can hook some jumper cables from another car on the battery to your car onto the terminal on the front left side of the engine with the positive cables on the terminal and negative on the chassis than you can push the trunk button to open it.

Never had any issues with the trunk, except getting the storage bag caught on the lock mechanism preventing the trunk to open and the silver handle extender wouldn't extend. Once this was cleared operation returned to normal. But on the W140 a 16+ year old car it is possible that the extender will fail.
