Yes, it's possible to repair. I had the same issue in my 1976 240D 3.0L W115. I had a shop do it (quite cheap) but basically there are just some little things inside that need sharpened a bit and you're good to go. It's probably not hard to look up but I don't have any further information about it - sorry. |
