1980 300SD intercooler mod?

Has anyone retrofitted or installed an intercooler on one of these turbos? The stock part is a Garrett TO3' I believe.

The C111 had a high performance version based on this block.

Any ideas? Horsepower and torque increases?

Find a local performance shop, either them or someone they recommend can get you sorted out.

I don't know that there's any bolt-on kits available, but fabrication won't be difficult. Honestly, cost per hp is pretty high.

Power is controlled by fuel injection quantity. An intercooler alone will make zero change. An intercooler allows more power, it doesn't create any power.

The injection pump is capable of supporting 20hp over stock. If you want any more power than that you will need a custom injection pump.
Read about pump tuning here: http://mercedesforum.com/forum/diese...install-46097/

Even with that 20hp, an intercooler is not needed for your car.
