1971 280se 4.5 injection problem
seeking advice in trouble shooting "injection control unit" replacement
to solve fuel injection problem. car began to have issues suddenly.
car just stalled out when running at 30 or 40 mph.... we discovered
slight water in the fuel tank. we drained and dried completely.
then car ran super for a day or two.... then... boom... problem again.
this time the car would not restart after konking out... all of the injectors
were "stuck open".. fuel past rings into the crankcase.... checked ignition etc. etc.. no problems there.
decided the injection control unit might be the cause. purchased a rebuilt
icu and car starts and idles nicely but dies as soon as you give it gas.
help.. any ideas.. thanks !

Question
Have you replaced the injectors yet?
From your description, you are saying they are stuck open all the time = a mechanical issue. A mass of water setting in the fuel system and injectors will generate corrosion/sludge.
