Offer him $7000 and see. Also, is the timing chain replaced?? You need to drive it and see if it runs smooth. Sounded like a Euro model with 300hp instead of 238hp of the US models. If you really like it, get it. $8000 isn't too bad with all the gagdats installed if they all work.

The most obvious would be the exhaust system. Euro came with a 4 pieces smooth pipes instead of the US restricted one. But even if it's US car, still, looks very nice.

well it's a 560 with early euro bumpers front and rear. the update w126s had a nicer looking european bumper. the late model euro bumpers are basically non-existant in the US, it would stand to reason that the car is a US car and that the PO bought the readily available early euro bumpers. did the PO install the headlight level control? or just put in the lights? that would be another way to tell.

Note the late model euro bumpers on my car.

very clean schwarz! I have to ask you 2 things though on your ride:

1) where you got the bumpers...
2) are the headlight wiper blades from another s-class or is that really the euro version of it... i'm lookin for those!

PM me if you have to.

I got all of my european stuff in the UK when I was living there. I might be able to dig up the receipts for the wipers and give you the P/Ns. You will need the blades, arms, wiper motors, and the face plates. It's a pretty expensive proposition; the wiper motors alone were about $110 each converted from euros. All said and done, it's probably around $200 a side to get all the hardware.

These pics were taken with the 500E 16x8 rims on. I also have a set of AT Italia 16x7.5 that I have installed on my W116. Both the W116 and the W126 take the same offset so the rims are interchangeable. The caviat with the 500E rims is that in the front you need to run a 5mm spacer. I am not too fond of this requirement, but there are no balancing problems so I have gotten over it!

If you want something larger, the R129 SL rims in 17in or 18in fit without the need for spacers and the tire sizes are correct for the W126 as well. You can find sets on ebay pretty easily. One of these days I am going to get a set of 18in AMGs from the SL sport pack just to have them.

Thanks StapleGun! Can you believe that it has almost 300,000 miles! I think it is probably safe to say that I have one of the finest high mile W126s in the USA. Do you think so?? or I might just be smokin crack
