Question 84 300 Sd Blower Fuse/kickdown Switch Problem

I have a new (to me) 84 300SD... (had an 82 300d for years). This car has just started blowing the fuse for the ac blower motor. Replaced that fuse 3 times, to no avail. However, when i unplug the kickdown switch under the gas pedal, the problem goes away. My question is... am i hurting the car with the kickdown switch disconnected? Is this a known problem? Is it likely to be the switch, the wiring, or the solenoid? Is the solenoid IN the tranny? difficult fix? Basically, any info will be appreciated, as this is my daily driver and dont want to mess up this beautiful car.

Thanks

Driving w/o the kickdown will not hurt the car. Needless to say you’ve got an overload somewhere. I’d recommend replacing all of your fuses with copper/brass alloy fuses.
