Question Bumper removal & chrome replacment

I want to remove my front bumper and replace the chrome on my 1989 560SEL. Has anyone done this in here? Is bumper removal difficult?

I did this about 5 years ago on a 1991 560SELwhich I no longer own. The removal is relatively simple. There is a bracket that you can see in the front section of the fender well on each side. Take the bolt off. Then at the front of the car the bumper is attached to the bumper shock absorbers. I don't recall how many bolts hold it on but remove all of the bolts and the bumper pulls straight off. Removing the chome is easy but before you do it make sure that you have new mounting brackets since the old ones are probably going to be rusty. The process of removing and replacing is tedious but not all that difficult. I posted the precise steps to use a few years ago on either www.mercedesshop.com. or on www.benzworld.com

1987 560 sec impala metalflake, over cream, or java.
im just in the proses, taking the bumper off ect., its easy enough. 6 bolts, 2 on each side under the car, 1 on each side from up top hwich you can see if you look through the opening under the grill. if thes are rusty its not that easy, mine were like the day they were put on, also this will probably be an indication of the difuaculty youl have seperating the shroud, & the 3 crome pieces. ( also youl have to unplug the driving lights somewhere around the signal lights ) mine were no rust whatsoever & believ me its a job. i would hate to have even 1 stuborn screw.there are 12. be prepared to replace them due to damage if this is the case. just my 2 cents
