JUST BOUGHT A 88 420SE WITH 155000 MILES ON THE CLOCK. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I THINK IT'S ONLY RUNNING ON 6 CYLINDERS ON IDLE BUT WHEN I REV IT UP IT SOUNDS FINE. IF I TAKE OFF THE HT LEADS FROM THE BACK TWO CYLINDERS ON THE LEFT HAND HEAD (WHEN LOOKING FROM THE FRONT OFF THE ENGINE) THERE IS NO CHANGE TO THE ENGINE NOTE???? IT'S HAD A NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER, NEW HT LEADS, NEW SPARK PLUGS IT ALSO HAD A NEW DIZZY CAP AND ROTOR ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO. THE CAR HAS SAT SINCE 2006 WITHOUT BEING USED SO THE GAS ISN'T GREAT.
MY DAD WHO'S A RETIRED MECHANIC INSISTS THAT ITS OK AND JUST NEEDS A GOOD RUN, CAN ANYONE OUT THERE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME PLEASE.
