A friend of mine bought a 500SEL without checking anything. It drove well, but shortly after bringing it to me to look at started over heating. I checked everything and discovered the water pump is leaking. The car was 30min from the lift and was never driven above 80% on the temperature gauge. It was shut down by him on the side of the road to cool off, at wich point the engine never started again. The starter was struggling before to start the engine which leads me to believe that could be it. I haven't tested anything yet as the car is being towed and I won't get to look until saturday.
Does it sound like it could be a seized engine? I don't even hear the starter engaging, which makes me think that's the more likely culprit.
