Sounds like either the regulator or the slides.
The regulator is the part with the meshing teethed gears, used to lower and raise the window. The slides are located on the bottom of the glass and fit into a slide, which allows the side to side allowance of the window. Both would result in the scenario, as you have descibed it. |

I hope this photo will help anyone who has any issues with their window regulator. The reason my window was not working, I discovered that one of the arms was broken, as you know this part cost about $300 from the dealer, so I had it welded and now it works fine
