How do I make my Euro 1981 500SEL pass emissions?
Howdy! I purchased a 500SEL with no emissions equipment and am trying to figure out what i need to do to make it pass. I failed the NOX test here in Arizona largely due to not having an EGR system from my understanding. The first thing i want to do is install catalytic converters but am not sure exactly which specific cats i need or where along the exhaust they need to be welded in. Ive read about retarding the timing and making the car run slightly rich to reduce engine exhaust temperatures. Car has brand new oil/filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, and cap. If anyone has any information on where to start or what i need that would be greatly appreciated!
