Complicated key issue... ugh!

Hello, first post here and I'm desperate. I have a 1984 500sel that I have had in storage for the winter and I cannot find the key. I have called the two nearest Mercedes dealers (who are 7 hours away in either direction) and they both said they need the vehicle to make a key. I cant even get into the car, much less get it to a dealer hundreds of miles away.
I have a locksmith about an hour away and he wants nothing to do with it, he kept referring to it as a Maaarrcedes, so odds are I don't want him to touch it either.
I have the title in hand, so there is proof that I own the car.
I live in the middle of nowhere and have no one that seems to be able to help nearby. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Firstly; the two dealerships are bald faced liars. I have had the SAME problem, went to Las Vegas dealership with my paperwork (title, ins., & registration), they recorded info they needed, sent that to Dallas Daimler/Benz depot, a week later I had the key per the VIN. Was There, Did That. Period.
WHERE are You? That'll help us get you rolling ...

Tom Hanson at the Mercedes Classic Center in California might be able to make a key and send it to you. ~$70 if I remember. Scan and email the title and your DL for proof of ownership...

Next day service with my registration at my MB dealer. New key and ignition switch (old one was very sloppy) was about $80.
