Question 1985 MB 500SEL dies

Background; car starts, runs fine on the road, BUT engine will die when I take my foot of the gas petal sometimes, and I noticed the engine when idling at 750-800rpms will advance to about 1100rpms as the engine warms up. I believe both issues are related. I have changed out the Idle Control Module, Electronic Fuel Pump Relay, Overload Protection Unit, etc.

I put a 12v bulb attached to the Idle Control Valve and sometime it comes on, but usually stays off.

Any suggestions on testing/fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm wondering if this is similar to my issue (see below thread link)

Bumping for possible solution.
