W126 Diesel Wanted - Possible W140 Swap?

I have a 1994 S420 I need to find a home for. The current driver, my soon to be out of college son, is looking at opportunities that are in very rural areas, places that could easily be 400 miles from the closest MB mechanic. A W140 chassis car is not the sort of car you want to be out in the middle of nowhere with, not to mention it's not the most economical on fuel when your commute might be 100 miles. I'm not suggesting it's not reliable, but if you need a mechanic when you're 80 miles from Ely Nevada, for example, it will be tough to find one familiar with a W140.

I want a later model six cylinder W126 diesel, ideally a 300SD/L or 350SD/L for a replacement.

I'm not quite ready to do so, but should be by the end of October if not before. The car is in the Tampa, FL area.

The car is in very good working order, with full service records from the original owner all the way through my ownership (I'm the third owner.) It's always been in the south, primarily Florida. Low miles - currently 116,000 on the clock. The original owner was Fred Stolle, Australian professional tennis player, if that matters.

It gets regular maintenance as expected, is very clean inside and out, and everything works with the exception of the headlight wipers which don't like to park, meaning that the right side wiper motor probably needs replacement. I have unplugged them so I don't have wipers stuck at odd angles, as that makes me crazy when I see it.

I'm gauging interest at this time and hoping I can find someone with a nice W126 diesel to trade even or with some additional $$ depending on condition. Exterior pictures are below and I'll post additional pictures in the next day or two if there is interest.

I also have a large box of spare parts that I saved from a previous W140 chassis car I had that will go along with this car.

Drop me a PM if you're interested, or possibly have a car that would fit my requirements as stated above. I'm thinking a price on this would be in the high $4,000 range considering condition and provenance.

Thank you,

Dan
