84 300SD Transmission Leak

Hi MBW,

I had a trans leak so I recently changed my AT filter, and cleaned the trans thoroughly. I found the leak--it emits from where the play symbol is in the attached photo. Does anyone know what this repair entails? Thank you for any advice.

Secondary Pump repair

Hello! I just did the same job on my 560SEL last night. It can be done without dropping the transmission. It took about 3 hrs with the tranny in. If you have the transmission out, I would guess a little over an hour.

Here is link to the procedure: http://www.trocki.pl/szymon/automat/...722_repair.pdf

It is under pages 4.4/1-4.4/2 "Removal and installation and disassembly of secondary pump 27.51"

I replaced the o-rings, but not the teflon rings on the shaft. The dealer did not have them, and no other shop even knew what I was asking for.

Tools Used
1. 5mm allen wrenches (1 long, 1 short)
2. 10mm socket and ratchet
3. Good flashlight/headlamp
4. Carb cleaner
5. Cleaning brushes
6. Dental picks to pull out the dried o-rings out

Parts no.
016 997 31 48 as of transmission 3 230270
016 997 32 48
016 997 37 48
up to transmission 3 230269
I purchased all three, but only used the two which fit. It looks like it will depend upon which transmission you have.

If you have any questions, PM me or post it here, and I will try to get back ASAP. Good luck!
