timing chain

Hi everyone,

Is it necessary to change the timing chain on a 93 500 SEL with 190.000 km? (thats 120k miles)

If so, how many hours labour does it require and how involved is this job?

Thanks

Nik

My 95 s500 c only has 45K miles on, so I don't know yet. But on my 86 560SEL I had the chain changed at 97K service. The guy who owns a same vehicle takes care of his customers' as his own. He found a way with his car to change the belt without removing a lot of parts. It took him 5 hours to do mine, but at 35 bucks an hour, comparing to 80 buck an hour from the dealer. And it would probably take the dealer longer to do the same job.
