Correct Wing Mirror?

There are two types - the one piece smooth cover, and the multi-piece cover that has a mid-line half way down the outside of the cover. I have the latter one - and hard to find anywhere. I need a driver's door mirror cover; already bought an OEM complete assembly. Part No. 1408100179 gets you part way there.
Tempted just to buy a whole car used in whatever condition to get the parts from it..... (Call me crazy). Any suggestions? I can order a cover from Germany for around $400 bucks.

Lots of info. on repairing these mirrors everywhere on the web. Just a footnote to add - in mid-1995 the cheaper more plastic style (identified by the rubber gasket in between the door frame and outer mirror, and the line going left to right half way down the mirror housing) became the mirror to replace the earlier multi-piece housing that is all smooth on the outside. I was crazy enough to actually think Mercedes would help me in replacing my driver's door mirror so I ordered the parts (wrong mirror came, exchanged, and now the germans it seems have forgotten to include 6 brass threads in the triangular cap (that your outer screws mate to as they bolt through the mirror assembly to attach to the car door). They only included 3 brass thread sleeves in that new piece, so I can attach it to the door, but only have 3 smooth threadless holes to attach the mirror to! Frustrating as can be after the $ spent. So my solution will be to crazy glue some type of nut or locknut to the backside, and hope to heck i can attach tightly the outside mirror without the nuts coming off, or find a brass tube that can seat inside the plastic holes....arrrrgh.
