S-Class (1996 W140)
wing /side mirrors

Hello my first post, my parents have had our s-class since brand new 1996.
Wondering if people can help me.

My side mirrors are 7 pin connection.
I have ordered new units, but the shop only has 9 pins or 5 pins in stock for one side. Question is will the 9 pin fit/work?

thanks

I believe you have the mirrors with the line half way up, rather than the smooth cover. When you attach them to the door, you will find there are two plugs. THe newer style like I have on my mid-'95 had one round plug (probably identical to the older style that has two round plugs) and one flat plug. I can tell you my car did not work with the older style mirror on it - as half of it wasn't plugged in. The benefit in ordering a new mirror is you also get the new rubber gasket which is between the door mount and the mirror unit itself. Just be sure you check your part numbers - Mercedes switched these mirrors in mid 1995 to the newer style. Incidentally I found my new replacement mirror does not fold as flat as the factory original on the other side of the car ... could be a synchronization issue but I haven't had time to unplug it and fool with the console switch. Lots of parts on ebay these days.
