Transmission slipping while driving up hills
I drive a 1996 S320. I recently have noticed that my transmission would occasionally slip while going up a hill. Yesterday, I barely was able to drive up a slight hill twice . My car behaved as if the car was in neutral while my engine was trying to pull the car forward, but the car took several attempts to go forward. That is the best way that I know how to explain it. My car was in the correct gear of the automatic transmission gear shift. As of date, I have had no issues with driving in reverse or any way other than going up a hill. I have nkt noticed any read fluid in my driveway. Yesterday, was the first day that I had so much difficulty. I had planned to simply check my transmission fluid level, but the owner's manual stated that I would first need to break a tab on the cap. I was not comfortable with doing this. Will having a low level of transmission fluid cause difficulty driving up any incline? Also, if the level is low, does that mean I have a leak somewhere? Where are the locations for the usual leaks on a Mercedes Benz transmission? I will appreciate any information. I am simply trying to learn more about my car and cars in general. Thank You!

Out Of Control!!
Sounds like your tranny needs to be rebuilt----- if the tranny was leaking fluid your wife would be after you to remove the fluid from the driveway or what ever---so now you are answering your own questions----visit a couple of shops to get their advice--my guess is 3,000 USD and the car is probably worth 2,000 USD---you gotta love that baby!!

front pump seal do leak over time,I would break seal and check fluid, you can order a dipstick on ebay.I seen s320 722.605 trans go over 320,000 miles. However fluid and filters need to be changed. The electrical plug in is another thing that can leak.It will wick fluid into computer box under the hood.
