My first gremlin on my S500

Hi guys. I have been a member on here for a while with the user name smw (I think) but I've since lost lots if data from a problem phone and now I can't remember any of my log in details for lots of stuff.. Anyway...

I have had my S500 (96) for about 3 months now and it's just started with its first worry. A couple of days ago I started the car to go to the shops with my kids. I let it warm up for a couple of mins as usual then set off. I never give it any stick for at least 5 mins so I trundled down the road. When I got to the main road and opened it up to get up to speed the car just lost all drive and the ASR light illuminated. I turned off the ignition and re-started it and the same happened again. After another try it drove like normal. Before this happened I did notice that when cold it seemed to find a false neutral for a split second when changing from 1st to second. It went further up the revs in first than normal then when it tried to drop into the next gear it revved then dropped in. Any ideas? I have tried to be as detailed as possible. It's booked in to have a service and gearbox oil flush on Saturday. Apart from this the car is a dream and I am thrilled to own such a feat of engineering. I love it!

Thanks in advance.
Steve.

I have a '97 S420 and experienced slow shifting and delayed shifting when the engine/trans were cold. I took it in and had a complete flush of the transmission and transmission cooling system, had all new fluid put in and also put in some drive train additive from Bestline and what a huge difference. No more slow or delayed shifting and it shifts thru the gears at lower RPM than it did before. The secret is to flush out everything. Not cheap but worth every penny for the difference it makes

That's what I'm doing on Saturday with my friend. I haven't heard of the drive train additive so will look into that. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Steve.
Hi there, how does it run now after changing the transmission fluid? Have you had a similar power loss reoccur?
