mercedes s500 1999
another BAS ASR P1580

I searched the forum could not find answer yet, here is my problem, 99 s500


for about 3 weeks now every morning when I start the car I get BAS ASR light, car in limp mode shaking real bad rpm around 1300.and I get p 1580 code, after few minutes and after turning engine off and on few times its back to normal, and it stays fine all day long, I cleaned the throttle body the wires are fine the brake lights work fine , any idea? help Thanks

1990 560 SEL , 1998 S 420
Maybe you should try changing out the engine oil and filter, if not recently done. It may be other stuffs, but this one is a good start. ;-))

ohkmd, good luck! I had a CE320 that had a similar problem. I would back it out of the garage drive about 100- feet up the street, bang "limp home". I'd pull over stop and restart the car and never have the problem again until the next morning. Tried every suggestion under the sun, had the ETA rebuilt, new wiring, new speed sensors, etc. You name it, we tried it. Finally sold the car to my mechanic who is still driving it with the same problem. A real mystery.
