Quick Question about Door Close Assist Vacuum Pump
You know the pump that makes like 20 things work - including the lower back supports that either make or break seat comfort? THAT one lol
Ok, so when I hit the door lock/unlock button back and forth, it clicks, but nothing else.
Same with any other vacuum thing I try to operate - click but no pump action.
Do you agree that it is most likely the pump and I should replace the whole pump unit?
** bonus question if I can sneak it in - what does the vacuum pump in the trunk operate?

Out Of Control!!
Based upon what was posted I agree that the PSE(vacuum pump) has failed, assuming you have checked fuse 3 in the trunk fuse block.
The PSE provides all the seats,AC and door lock vacuum requirements
If you want to spend time google the MB PSE pump, amazing what folks learn about their cars!!

partenr, as per your subject, the vacuum pump in the trunk is responsible for the closing as pulling the doors and trunk shut. No need to slam shut. Hence, Door Close Assist pump.
The other PSE, ( vacuum and pressure pump) inside vehicle under rear seat, right side, is responsible for all the nice things mentioned by Plutoe above.
