cam adjusters on M120 v12

can anyone explain me how the cam adjusters need oil pressure to operated from advance position back to 0 retarding position

in normall mode when the solenoid is not activated
is 0 degree advanced

when activated the solenoid is pulling in the shaft an pulls the gear with it
because it is helical gear the cam will advance when the solenoid is pulling in

when retarding is needed from this point the solenoid is deactivated( power off) and the spring inside and because of the cam sprocket is been driven from the cam gear and chain it will rotate faster and the cam wil retarding back to 0 position when the shaft moves back in over the helical gear.

this my version but is there any oil pressure involved. I think this is only for lubrication

any thoughts

I attach a photo. this is from a M104. I could not find any from the m120 or m119 I think the work all the same way only different timing
