1991 500SEL Issue
Hi MBWorld,
I'm new to this site, and I'm hoping there's some knowledgeable folks out there that can help me out.
I've got a 91 500SEL that my dad bought new. Dad's been gone 6 years now, and I want to keep his car on the road, for as long as I can. It's got 158K on it, runs, handles, and looks great!!
I know the 91's full of bugs, but I've done most of the work on-going to iron them out. New wiring harness, new wiper relay, and both rear window regulators.
As said, the thing runs great, doesn't leak or burn oil, but periodically the engine surges, in conjunction with the tach bouncing some, and settling at 0. The car is still running and driving, but the RPM's jump up, the gas peddle is hard to push, and it's clear that something's not right! The problem is intermittent, and aggravating!
I've taken it in to a couple of places, but it displays no error codes. I've had glitches with the ASR light coming on and going out, currently out, and the ABS light is always on, which I can live with.
Any thoughts on this 'electrical' / 'throttle' issue?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
