W140 s500
engine stutter at cruising speed

I recently inherited an s500 from my family. Its in perfect condition and garage kept since 1996. It has 102xxx miles. The only issue that it currently has is a stutter in the rpms, cruising at 35-45 mph. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it is very annoying and I'm sure it is affecting the already poor gas mileage. It is also a bit hesitant off the line at times but not always.

My research has led to possible MAF or a bad coil. Recently changed spark plugs with no avail To fixing the issue. Noticeable better performance though.

I have no codes when checked.

The probability is higher for a bad coil. It would help if you can describe what happens under heavy acceleration as that could point to a MAF issue.
