First Car W140 coupe!!!!
just purchased a project that will take some tlc but I'm prepared to put in the cash or all my cash being that I'm still a teenager its a black 1997 s600 coupe with 197k miles that had a small accident (no airbags went off) hence it needs headlights and damaged hood was swapped with a silver one. Everyone I bring up the costs of ownership to gives me a hard time about it but being who I am i'd rather have the v12 than a corolla at least while still possible before the sea levels rise from global warming or trump wins and I have to leave the country and my w140 behind. She's in bad need of a paint job and there is a strong gasoline smell that the previous owner says is due to something with the fuel injectors I bought a 1996 s500 coupe for parts however the non xenons and parktronic lacking bumpers aren't a big help.. an interesting piece of information i stumbled across on a $6 vin checker is that on august 4th 2001 the car had 150,900 miles on it meaning it was only driven 46k miles in the las 15 years!!! it doesn't leak and the interior is in good shape after the cost of repairs/paint etc I intend to install exhaust cutouts because if I'm paying for 11mpg I want to choose between a subtle refined beast and wannabe pagani c12

Nice car, why not paint the hood to match instead of a full paint job. I admire your courage and I am sure you will get it done right. 200 K is nothing on this engine. The engine mechanicals are fail proof, electronic modules are a different story. Good luck with it. Spend some money on a LAUNCH x431 mercedes scanner with the round underhood main connector. You will need it.

Thanks for the advice I'll look into the scanner, as far as the paint there are tons of scratches all over the paint so it would be worth it to get it repainted thats when the I have the money
