My staggered 19" Monoblocks
Found a set in Germany. AMG 19x8.5 et 46mm front and 19x9.5 et 46mm rear. Went with 255 40 19 front and 285 35 19 rear.
I can say with confidence that the ride has surprisingly suffered minimally, probably a testament to just how good the suspension is on the W140. The fitment is just spot on.
The MB AMG part numbers start with 140, and that got me curious and lead me to believe that these rims were originally intended for the 140.
I did some research and talked to a GM at my local MB dealership who's been around since the late 80s. He told me that toward the latter years of the W140, these 19" staggered monoblocks were a very pricey and very rare dealer accessory.... special order intended mostly for the S600 and 500 buyers. He said he can dig up the accessory brochure which I would like to see. We all know the 99 grand edition had non staggered 18" monoblocks standard, but I guess the 19s were considered top shelf.

those look awesome! I am looking to do similar tire fitment but on 18s. Any rubbing issues at full lock, and are you lowered at all? Thanks. Z

I didn't lose any comfort or stability with the change. I did have a problem with 20" Mandrus rims but they were not straight and the ride wasn't smooth but stable at speed. With the AMG rims and Michelin Pilots the ride is incredible only issue is excessive wear on rear tires (S500 and CLK). The attached is the Mercedes, AMG, and Carlsson approved Rim recommendation and tire size for the W140.
