W140 shiny leather problem

I have a 1993 W140 (300sd) with perforated leather, and the seats are in decent condition just shiny with wear. Some say conditioner products that contain oils aren't necessarily the best and can leave the seats shiny, preferring water based products. Is the leather died or top coated?

Any advice to return leather to a more matte finish would be greatly appreciated.

Meguiar's Leather Cleaner + Meguiar's Leather Conditioner.

Initial cleaning with cleaner and microfiber towel. Use natural hair brush lightly if it's really bad. Condition after that.
Next cleaning with damp cloth only, condition after that.
After a few months deep clean with cleaner again.

I have had great success with Meguiar's on my 1997 S420 seats over the years and probably wouldn't use anything else. The leather is soft and supple.

Our old clunkers still have genuine leather. If we treat it right it will last a lifetime
