Please Help With My 2001 S430

Hi Everyone,

I Have 2 Problem With My 2001 S430, First, When I Drove The Car Today And It Came To A Stop Sign And I Stop But After 5 Second I Try To Hit Gas And Go But It's Not Going Any Where (feel Like It's In Netural)then I Turn Of The Engine And Restart It And Put Back In Drive Then It's Fine Again.this Happen To Me Twice And I'm Getting Worry..can Anyone Tell Me What's Wrong?

Second My Hood Is Close But The Cluster Showing That The Engine Hood Is Open And It's Very Very Annoying Also It Keep Showing Some Light Bulb Went Off On The Cluster But I Check All Of Them Is Fine.....is The S430 A Dependable Car To Own?

Also What Kind Of Oil Sould I Used? Mobil 0w40 81/2 Qt? What About Transmission? I Have A 2000 Clk430 But I Trade It In For This 2001 S430...

A lot of those questions are sort of general, so they are hard to answer...

First of all, how many miles are on your car?

Second, when you were at the stop sign, and you pressed the accelerator pedal, did the engine rev or was there some sort of hesitation? If the engine did rev and your car was in drive and did not go anywhere, that sounds pretty scary.

Check that your sensor is connected and the wires are not damaged. The sensor might need to be replace, if so, the P/N is A220 821 70 51 and it's right around $36.00 at the dealership.

Is it a dependable car to own? This question is presented on these forums every few weeks, and honestly, there is no answer. But all in all I would have to say that it is a reliable car, but that depends on the following: The car was never abused, the oil was changed regularly with synthetic lubricants, the gasoline that is used is of high grade, the car was not driven over rough pavement often.

The car, being a Mercedes or not, is still just a car. It's mechanical and anything mechanical is bound to malfunction at some point. The only things that seem to be reliable are USB Thumbdrives.

Check the engine room thoroughly especially at corners and look at the paint code to match. If you still have a chance to return this car, do it. It sounds like something is not right, which the body shop did not adjust the hood properly. ( on the other words.... it is a very high chance that it had an *******)

Pop your hood and check to make sure there are no foreign objects blocking the hood latches. Sometimes things get left behind and obstruct these latches so even if the hood is closed the error shows since the latches are not making contact. With the hood open there are 2 latches on either side above the headlights.
