W220 S320 (Petrol) -No Sound on Radio/CD/Tape

Hi All,

I'm a 'newbie' based in England & your help on this would be appreciated. I can see that 'Jetman' had a similar problem a while back, but any help/ideas/suggestions would be good:

In Short, I've never had a problem before, but all of a sudden yesterday, I was listening to a CD, and the sound stopped coming out of ALL of the speakers. If I select Radio or Cassette, the same is true..In addition however, whilst if you press the 'Audio' key to move between CD/TAPE/RADIO..it says 'NO CC' as there's no tape in there, it now no longer recognises that the CD changer is connected..for the record, I've taken the Changer and tried it in my 'ML', and it works fine (So it's not that)

I've also changed the fuse in the AMP.

Look forward to hearing from you

Many Thanks

OJ.

It's probably the head unit but it can be many other things. You haven't mentioned the year -- pre-2004 cars were D2B based whereas the audio network was changed to MOST in 2004. They are very different. The MOST system has a master controller which could be the problem in a 2004 or later. This is not something that can be diagnosed by internet. The dealer (you say "agent," I believe) is your best bet.

Cool Audio Problem W220..

Hi 'Whoever',

Thanks for that...it's a 99' vehicle.

(I'm just not too keen on visiting my local dealer/agent & seeing if I need another mortgage for them to fix it, lol!!)

No worries. It's actually homage to Dr. Who.

Unfortunately, diagnosing the audio networks is complex enough that the dealer is often the cheapest route in the long run.
