Trunk won't stay open...

Hi all,

My trunk lid on the 04 S500 will only stay open for 1-2 minutes before it slowly closes again. This becomes a pain in the *** (and head) when loading or unloading the car and the lid closes on your head.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Did you ever get this won't-stay-open problem resolved? My S55 is having the same issue except it opens fine and slowly closes after a couple seconds. It's embarrassing to have to prop the trunk lid open with a stick.
Cheers,
Jeff

Suggest you replace the trunk pistons first. They are supposed to counter balance the trunk lid. The cost is around $80 each.

Replace the trunk struts. I will take you about 5 minutes or less.

Are we talking a car with the power-opening trunk? If so, do they have the same non-powered support cylinders on each side?

Wally I believe they do but you can check startek to verify.
