2006 S430 issues
I just bought a new to me 2006 S430. It has a few issues that I hope someone on here could help me with.
1. The SOS/Teleaid won't reset. The red overhead light won't reset and the the message won't reset either.
2. Everytime I turn the ignition off and the car sits for a few miniutes, the car resets itself. The clock reverts back to German time and I have to reset it. Also the command center looks like it totallly resets.
3. How do I regulate the air temp? It seems as though it's either HOT or cold and not much in between. I have it on Auto and the temp at 58 and it still puts out hot air.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Todd

I guess the first question is Why did you buy it with these issues?? but that's ancient history.
Was it certified from a dealer? If so Take it back.
1. the red sos light stays on as long as the car is on. there is no reset. IF yuu pres it and you don't have teleaid, it will attempt to dial a few times then shut off by itself
2.Who knows.. comand issue??
3. I don;t know where you live ( hence the question ) butno one in North amerca has their air set at 58 degress at the moment. I don;t know if I ever have come to think of it. Anyways the internal thermostat will override ( should ) any setting you put that is out of order. So if it's near 58 degrees in the car or outside, you are going to get heat no matter what you do.
B. if you are adjusting the fan speeds manually, then it is not in automatic. Automatic is when you press the center button with the little "a" on it and your display shows automatic. You should also have the wheel in your center vent turned up to the auto position in order for it to respond to your temp control settings.
Hope this helps... if not take it back.

Keep in mind that if it's cold out, you can't force the air; it's going to try to warm the feed if it's at or close to 58 degrees. Even here in San Diego, it hasn't gotten past 60 degrees for the last two weeks, and has been in the high 30s at night, so my suggestion would be to wait until its warmer, or test it in a warm garage.
Odd problems on a very new car; it's extremely unusual to see a late model like that so poorly maintained. What was the source of your purchase?

My problem now is I can't get the cluster time to change to military time. The command will change, but not the cluster. When I inquired about it at the dealers, they said the cluster can't be changed. I wonder what's going to happen when DST occurs.
Questo for you, have you/anyone been able to program the right side mirror for parking assist. The dealer told me that this is not an option on this model. My 01 E320 has it I don't understand why MBUSA remove it on older models.
Good luck.

My 2006 had the identical problem you describe as #2, about 3 years ago. The firmware/software updates were all installed, but in my case they did not fix it. The Comand unit was replaced to cure the problem.
