I am hearing this noise when I get in the car, start it and turn the steering wheel. Which suspension component is this?

Do you hear it when driving slowly, like over speed bumps? It could be the ball joints, they start to wear down after some time - along with the control arm bushings.

Basically, when first turning the wheel when backing out of a parking spot or just turning. I had the lower control arms replaced by the dealer 40,000+ miles ago.
Are these a DIY?

Actually, that may be something different than ball joints then. Sometimes I know brake calipers can hit and make a noise, but hopefully someone who has had this experience can chime in - I noticed something similar in my S class these last few days actually, and did not find the answer yet.

i only feel the popping only when i press the brake pedal and get to a full stop anybody knows what is it?

if the noise is like a groan, my tech tells me it's the steering pump.

i hear the same noise with the first start of the day.

he also says not to worry - noise is normal because the pump/fluid is cold.

Mine has been doing it for a while.... i recently noticed what felt like the wind blowing me. Took car in for new tires and alignment..... arrived to find it on top of lift with manager waiting to show me how my lower control arm bushings were completely worn out. going to get estimates today.
has anyone bought parts from autohausaz ???

I have this and it has been driving me crazy (mine seems to come from the rear though). Slow moving when backing up, going over bumps and slow turns...loud "pop". At times even after shutting the car off and when I get out, my weight coming out of the car will create the noise (leading me to think suspension).

I've spent a few hundred dollars leaving it with my independent and no luck finding it. Obviously I have to suck it up and go to the dealer.

Hopefully someone who is in the know chimes in.

Have the mechanic check the sway bar link bushing. The sway bar endlink has a ball end and could be the culprit. It's common for cars with bad endlinks, not limited to W220s

My GTS is at the dealer Now, I have the same Loud Pop when going through angled driveways, Its a known issue and they told me they know the Fix..
