List of Best / Cheapest Sources of w220 Replacement Parts

As a companion to Skylaw's excellent sticky "W220 OWNERS START HERE" , I think a master thread with links to all the best places to get common w220 replacement parts would be a good idea, both for new readers and old ones alike. it can be a handy resource to look back on.

Please link all sources where you get cheap replacement parts, and list company names and their current prices (in case the links go dead or prices change).

I will get things started:

1. AIRMATIC SUSPENSION
Arnott offers struts and compressors with lifetime warranty. $400 for front struts, $360 for rear struts and $300 for compressor
http://www.arnottindustries.com/part...18_pid126.html

2. BATTERY
Autozone has the cheapest group 49 battery , Duralast brand name, at $89
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/
OEM Mercedes battery can be purchased through Mercedes Roadside Assistance 1800 FOR MERCEDES
No installation charge, but battery can be $200+

3. WIPER BLADES/REFILLS
Partsgeek offers Bosch wiper refills (just the rubber part) for $14 a pair, if you have the early model 2000 blades with metal frames and if you dont want to buy entire new metal wiper blades

http://www.partsgeek.com/ss/?make=Me...74&brand=Bosch

(please list and link other replacement parts sources, such as the HELLA relays, etc)

www.rmeuropean.com has cheap airmatic pump compressors, and their shipping is VERY fast. Small company with only a few employees but VERY great place to order from.

www.amazon.com has cheap oxygen sensors.

www.primepartssuperstore.com is linked to an MB dealership and can get you hard-to-find parts like mirror gaskets, driver's seat plastic trim, etc.

Angry Wiper Blades Ruin Windshield...

Guys,
My W220/2000 S500 Windshield has been replaced. Brand new wiper blades have been replaced. Car has been in garage most of the time. I am from Florida. I understand the heat here...lol
My new wipers only last about 2-3 months, then they started to get caked up at the tips on the blades and caked up hard enough to scrape lines on new windshield. Now due for another set. They are Bosch, I paid $65 for the pair. They're not cheapy...lol

Any idea what caused that ? I did check the tension on wiper arms as to maybe the movement or even to tight or something, but seem to be normal. Not tight or loose or improper movement.

I can't take it any more, I just had to ASK...

Thanks,

boop42,

If you are looking for Wiper Blades for your S500, we have both genuine Mercedes-Benz as well as Bosch replacement sets available on our website.

You can get to the Wiper Blades by clicking HERE, or by clicking on the photo of the wiper blade set below.

Be advised that there is a chassis split on the Wiper Blades per Mercedes-Benz. This occurs during production in the year 2000. The chassis split is listed in red on our website. If you have any confusion with this, please let me know, and I will be glad to help out.

If there is anything I can help out with, please feel free to post or send a PM!

Mercedes
Early 2000 used heavy metal wiper blade frames, which are unique and you can't use store bought wiper blades

they sell rubber refills which are hard to find , or you can go to Firestone and have them strip the rubber inserts out of their universal Bosch 28 inch blade frames and install in your frames

boop42,

The VIN split occurs during production in 2000, and being that your S500 is a 2000 model year, it is most likely affected by it. As tusabes said, early production cars in 2000 used a metal wiper blade frame, and later production uses an aero style blade, which is a lighter, more flexible wiper blade.

If you look at your VIN, the last 7 digits will be Axxxxxx, where x represents the chassis number, literally which number car yours was to travel down the assembly line.

On 03/09/2000, the production split occurred, so if the last 7 digits of your VIN are A116842, or anything prior to that, you need to use the old style metal-framed wiper blades, which are available on our site HERE, or by clicking on the photo below.

One nice thing about the old style metal-framed wiper blades is that inserts are able to be used, as opposed to replacing the entire wiper blade. We have the inserts for these blades available on our site. You can get to them by clicking HERE, or by clicking on the photo below.

However, if the last 7 digits of your VIN are A116843, or anything coming after that, you need to use the newer aero style wiper blades, which are available on our site HERE, or by clicking on the photo below.

I hope this helps you to understand the chassis split, and choose the correct wiper blades for your car. If there is anything else I can help out with, please feel free to post or send a PM!

I saw that primepartssuperstore.com legit? I've come across about 5 or 6 websites that have the same exact layout and I very badly need a brand new floor shifter for a w220 but cause these sites are all the same down to the selecting of the part and they are all TradeMotion company but I don't want to risk losing $800

Thanks for posting that link. I just did a audit and they are substantially less expensive on parts. I will have to understand their shipping charges and see if buying multiple items at once reduce the impact of shipping charges.

Yes. I purchased many oem parts from them. Even though paying shipping their price is much cheaper.
