275 tyre on a facelift W220
I looked long to see if I can fit 275/40/18 instead of the 265/40/18 and concluded it is not recommended.
Has anyone fitted a 275 tyre on a facelift W220? Pre-facelift they were standard.
Experiences? Does the break balance change?

i did it .. i have the amg 275/40/18 they are perfect no problems whats so ever. i dont think 265 and 275 really matters that much .. but check the tire size calculator search it on google, you put your old rim/tire size new rim/tire size and it will tell you the change in numbers.

The circumference is the same. In brackets the Speedo deviation at 100 km/h against ref. tyre (185/65 R15)
245/45 R18: 2067 mm (1.3 km/h)
265/40 R18: 2041 mm (7.7 km/h)
275/40 R18: 2065 mm (1.2 km/h)
The issue is the break balance front/rear, assuming you have 245/45 R18 in the front and the extra clearance required by the tyre.
Does anyone know why the facelist has 265 rear tyres and pre-facelift 275? Could it be the price as BMW M3's also have 245 front and 265 rear?

i believe your suppose to compare the new rims/tires with the old rims/tires ( 225/55/17)for +03 and 225/60/16 for 00-02

That comparison comes from the website calculator. The calculator is here: http://www.club80-90syncro.co.uk/Syn...calculator.htm
My 2004 S600 came with 245/45R18 front and 264/40R18 rear as default. If you want to compare your 225s then use the calculator.
I want to know if I can mount the 275s on the rear. I do not want to end up with the wrong break balance. Maybe then I have to mount 255s instead of the 245s on the front wheels.

The fit of W221 wheels is dependent on proper offset, make sure the new wheels have the correct offset. My 2006 S65 stock setup was 245 40 19 front and 275 35 19 rear so they definitely fit. The problem was the load rating of the tires was a non standard higher rating which is very limited availability. I replaced them with 255 40 19 front and 285 35 19 rear, on the stock wheels with no issues. The car rides much better with better traction with the larger tires.

I have no pics with the larger tires. Since they are on the stock wheels they look almost identical to the factory tire.

Could someone help me figure this out? Would staggered fit 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5, bolt pattern of 5x112, 255/40/19 front and 275/40/19 rear work for my 2001 s430? Thanks!

You didn't list the wheel offset , usually printed on the back of the wheel
If it's ET 35-45 they should work
An ET under 35 May stick out too much and requires fender rolling or flaring

You really need an offset near the factory specs to look factory. 44 for the front and 46 for the rear
Any rims from the w221 will fit well
The lower the offset the more they will stick out.
