HELP PLEASE W220 SUBFRAME MOUNTS
I got the mounts already but I need to know the procedure
I took off the real wheels took off the cover for the inner fender
got the main bolt to the sub frame mount out but from here im totally stuck !
my instructor was saying I might need to drop the exhaust or disassemble the air shocks ?
all types of crazy stuff , if any body has done rear subframe mounts on a w 220 please bring a little light to my situation here , I have spent the past year in my tech school working on the car every day & this is most likely the last repair it needs to relay ride smoothe thanks alot

Here are the steps as outlined in the WIS. I have combined all the various notes etc into one big file.
Looks to be fairly easy. According to the instructions, you do have to drop the exhaust system to be able to lower the axle ***'y. I have removed my exhaust system to replace the center support bearing on the drive shaft along with the flex discs. If you have access to a hoist at your school, then this whole job will be easier. You can read my posts on Benzworld which may help you with the exhaust system.
I personally have never done the mounts so not sure if you can short cut any of the steps. My only advice would be to be patient and above all be careful.
Looks like you will also have to Fab up, borrow or buy a tool to press the mounts in and out of the sub-frame.
Good luck and if possible post back any knowledge gained with a picture or two.
(Should get a lot of extra credit from your instructor after this job! )

I regret to inform you that this looks like a dead end for me for now at least , in my school I only get 2 1/2 hours of shop time per day so from what ive heard looks like I would have to drop the subframe . And evan if not id have to leave the car at school overnight , and they have already been scratching my car and just doing any thing they can to make me ruin the car the intructors at my school are jealous of my car & I don't trust leaving the car there over night so I guess this job will have to wait until I have access to my own lift
instead of getting extra credit when I want to go above & beyond it is frowned upon , they only know how to work on 1970 s chevys & fords ! my school is a joke , they tell german jokes all day but jokes on them Mercedes benz is the best car know to man kind !

You can do this job with the car raised up on jack stands. All you really need is a warm dry place to do the work. I don't know of anyone that has the luxury of a lift in their private workshop.
I wouldn't scoff too much at the tech school you are attending. Learn what you can and move on. Everyone has their own bias when it comes to cars so don't be offended if others don't share yours.

So heres a quick update I got the subframe mounts in today , I had a idea & it works
I just droped the sumframe down onto a dead mans stand with the car up on the lift & used a ball joint press to press the old mounts out then pressed them in the same way

His last post was over five years ago. Doubt you'll get a response.
I would start your own thread, or keep searching.
The Mercedes part numbers for the tools are included in the .pdf instructions, but I've found that a lot of Mercedes tools are insanely priced. Still, start your search with those part numbers.
220 589 02 43 00 is the press for removal.
140 589 04 33 00 is the press for installation.
