knocking under car
Please guys help me with this issue.
Last 2-3 weeks heard knocking sound when going over bumps or cobbled roads. Constant knocking. Other than that was ok,no knocking. Today noticed when turning car seems like its hit something underneath like a metallic thud and happens when turning or going over bumps. Feels as though car is going to break! On cobbles feels as though something loose as steering feels jumpy.
Please help.
Thanks people

Definitely stop driving it. I'd start with the basics. You didn't say if noise came from the front or rear, but assuming the front. First thing I would do is jack up the wheel where the noise seems to emanate from. Once you have the wheel up, grab the top and bottom and see if there is any movement. Also, with what you've described, if you can safely get underneath to have a look, there may be something very obviously broken/disconnected that you may be able to see. These can be diy'd, but without the right tools makes it a bit of a challenge. Typically these parts and labour aren't egregious to have done at the shop.
Good luck.

I have a knocking sound, but it's generated when I accelerate either by a kickdown, or a lower gear manually (2006 W220).
I took it to the stealership for diagnostics and they concluded it's a warren transmission mount, and want $330 to fix it (a $25 cost + labor)...
