making your car a bit more peppy?

So i know these 2 brothere who own a high end exotic car garage. I own another car that visits them often , so i also let them work on my s430. well they were talking and they said they are almost 100% sure this trick is for the mercedes? the trick is something like this = put the key in , but do not start and hold down the gas pedal for 5 seconds , by doing this it will result in quicker **** points as in a quicker car. so my question is - has anyone else heard of something like this? and does this only apply to certain models of the mercedes line? im curious about this one , its hard to understand these 2 brothers , they are italian and have very bad language skills. i did a search on here but could only find bolt on stuff or maps. I did not try this on my car , i can only imagine it must be some way to trip the ecu for better performance? if this even applies to mercedes?

it does a soft reset of the tranny adaptation. The car doesn't really shift any quicker, but it will shift a bit later (higher rpms) and downshift with less pedal application/force. If you drive like a grandma right after doing this, you'll be back to early shifts and lacking downshifts before you know it.

Standard reset for the Mercedes transmission, takes it back to original programming. It will make the car feel peppier if you have been driving conservatively for some time, since the car "learns" how you normally drive, and adapts the shift program to match.

I should have stayed enrolled longer at Boca Raton , however i grasped a bit of what you guys are saying. this litttle trick will not seem to benifit much or even at all , due to my driving habits. thanks for the input.
