Thats a lot of great information...I know this is an old thread but I'm looking to replace my sub and I need to know how much depth I have so I can purchase a new sub. Do I need a shallow sub?

If you intend to use the factory sub-woofer location, at the minimum you will need to purchase a free air or infinite baffle sub-woofer. Most car sub-woofers are designed to be in a sealed or ported box. Using one of these speakers without said box will have a less than ideal setup.
