My 2001 S 430 drivers side rear view mirror blinker has recently been acting up some times it would work some times it wouldn't


Last week I took apart the rear view mirror housing and tested the wiring to the led pack power and ground were there but light still not working


I sprayed the inside of the LED pack with electrical cleaner let it dry for an hour but when I put it back together it still did not work


I ordered the whole rear view mirror housing online for about 200$ my local Mercedes dealer wants 495$


Any ways I got in the car today and the blinker is working fine I guess I had to let the electrical cleaner dry out some more

How did you get the mirror cover off can you give a step by step

I was thinking of upgrading to the arrow led like the 2012 cars

First the rear veiw mirror irself comes off than diconnect the wire harness from the mirror the mirror is hold on to the motor by sticky pad I replaced mine with 3 m double sided tape for molding

Than there are 3 T 10 torx bits on the mirror motor remove thalem and the motor comes off

Remove the spring by lifting the rear veiw mirror housing you will see one end of the spring use needle nose pliers to release it

Than there are 4 plastic clips where the housing snaps onto the mechanical parts of the moving rear veiw mirror

Than the housing will slide out be carefull to remove the harness to the led light too good luck guys !

The remove the mirror housing you must press a spring clip release located down in the gap between the housing and the mirror. On W220s up thru 2002 the release clip is near the inner bottom corner, on 2003-up the clip is near the outer upper corner. Release the clip and slid the housing off, being careful to disconnect the wire harness inside the housing.

Yes wally you are correct its the same thing on the 2001 forgot to mention it

Care is really important when you disconnect the wires, the brackets can be brittle, leading rails may break off.
Make sure that you reconnect the correct way, changing polarity destroys the LED.
