Water in my cabin

The rainy season known as winter just started where I live and I just noticed that I'm getting a ton of water coming into my cabin on the passenger side through the air vent under the glove box. Is it just pouring into my car through the hood or is something else wrong?

do a search on "reed valve" or wet passenger carpet.

Also, does no one say thank you in advance any more?

If you're getting water inside the passenger footwell stop immediately

Open the hood and clear the drain tube under the plastic grille thats right under passenger side windshield , its at the very bottom so you'll need a chopstick or long skinny device to poke it open

Once you clear the drain hole the water should drain under your car instead of into your car

You must also pull up your passenger carpet and soak up all the water , if you don't it will flow straight to your rear SAM and fry all your electronics

I found the drain and everything other than my passenger mat appears to be dry. Could this have been causing the intermittent fault in my left brake light too?

Thanks guys for everything.

Yes it can result in numerous electrical faults

Don't just check your floor mats , you need to pull up the passenger side carpeting , it pulls out easily from the top under the dash

There is a recess channel under the carpet where wires run and that's where the leaking water flows and does Damage. Your mat may be dry on top but under the carpet it can be full of water

Roger, will do. I checked under my back seat and it was dry as well, but the area where the water is should have been my first check.

Thank you very much.

Must remove all the mats floor carpet down to bare metal. The water gets under and the top surface can be deceiving.

I checked all the way down and thankfully the water was held almost entirely in the carpet with only a few drops in the wheel well itself.

Thanks again

Pull up the passenger side carpet from under the dash to expose the metal car floor

If it's wet in there and you have comprehensive coverage on your auto insurance , file a claim . Comprehensive covers water damage

If you have liability only then you'll need to remove the seats, dry everything and start replacing electronic modules from the rear SAM forward
