I HAVE A 2001 S500 AND PURCHASED 18 INCH AMG MONOBLOCKS WHICH HAS
225 40 18 BUT THE TIRES LOOK SMALL ON THE CAR.

Does anyone know what the biggest size is for the car without rubbing.
i looked at a conversion chart and the biggest size that there recommending is a 235/50/18
has anyone went any bigger ???

Proper 18 inch tire size is 245 45 18
If you have wider rear wheels the proper staggered rear size is 275 40 18. These are the factory tire sizes for the 18 inch sport package w220 so they will fit without rubbing -

That is assuming your wheels have the correct offset - which they likely do not given the tire size - they probably came off a different model Mercedes

You can go even larger but may encounter issues with rubbing .

THE OFFSET IS 44 WHICH IS THE SAME AS THE FACTORY WAGON WHEELS.
THE RIMS ARE BOTH THE SAME FR &RR 8.5

I like the wheels but want a softer ride so i was thinking the 245 50 18 would give me more height instead of the hard ride

Use 245 45 18 as intended by Mercedes , the ride is good with them and they are affordable too

Pepboys.com has them for $99 shipped, using coupon code 30tires got me 30% off don't know when it expires . I know 15tires still works but is only 15% off

Using 245 50 18 is a taller tire that negatively affects gearing and revolutions

Ok thanks i have some freinds at pep boys
