2005 S430 Passenger Side Mirror Not Adjusting

Hello everybody

Sorry if this has been posted already. I checked everywhere and couldn't find a solution.
My passenger side mirror will fold in and out, but the mirror itself won't adjust. The driver side works perfectly. I checked the fuses and they are all good. Is there anything else I could do?

thanks

Might be a dumb question but you do have the passenger side mirror button on the driver's door pushed in when trying to adjust. Just asking. Otherwise the mirror will not move.

Also, remember when the passenger side mirror button is pushed in and the car is put in reverse that mirror will automatically drop down. This is an engineering design to keep you from rubbing the curb.

HAHAHA!! Thanks. Yes I checked it. The reversal adjustment is the main reason I wanted it to work

You might try manually pushing the mirror itself on the passenger side and see if that will wake it up. Then try the button again.

Yes. I tried that also with no luck. I was thinking of taking apart the mirror, but every guide I seen didn't work. I couldn't find the clip to disconnect it

There are two different clip locations. Search should show a thread that tells where these clips are located.

One common cause is a broken wire where the harness bends as the mirror folds. Since all the wires are black, it takes some testing to find the particular wire that is broken.

That won't be easy - all of the wires are usually black. First attempt might be to carefully feel each wire where they flex as the mirror folds. You may be lucky enough to feel the point where the copper is broken inside the insulation, as the wire may bend more easily at the break.

If that doesn't work, another approach is to start by making a large diagram of the connections at each end of the wire harness. You then test for continuity on each wire. Hook to one wire at the door end, then test each connection at the mirror until you find continuity. Draw the wire between the two points. Move to another point and repeat. Repeat until you have a connection at each end that has no continuity to any other point. Either splice or replace that wire.

Good luck! PLEASE let us all know if you find a better method!

I tried and didn't find anything. Is there a wiring diagram so I can find out where the wire goes? Also how to take off the door panel? Thanks again

Good job! Dealing with tiny, stiff, all-black wires that have to flex after repairs is NOT fun!
